Security First Insurance Aligns with FAIR Foundation to Set the Stage for a Safer New Year

admin / February 1, 2018

Jan. 19, 2018, Ormond Beach, Fla. – Each year Security First Insurance Company advises Floridians to be proactive in the lead up to hurricane season. This year the company has aligned with the non-profit consumer advocacy group, The FAIR Foundation, in a statewide effort to set the stage for a safer New Year.

Melissa Burt DeVriese, Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel stated, “The past two hurricane seasons have been a dramatic reminder that we must approach the start of each new year with a practical and proactive plan in place to keep our families, and our family of customers safe. To help us all be better prepared we’re about to launch a 30-minute television special, Get Ready, FLORIDA! with the FAIR Foundation.”

Jay Neal, President and Chief Executive Officer of the FAIR Foundation added, “Security First is known in the industry for its commitment to our state, and to its family of customers. It has a track record of transparency, and of its actions speaking louder than its words. To that end we’re delighted to have Melissa included in our special bringing clarity to the complicated, and potentially misleading topic of

Assignment of Benefits. Also, company founder, Locke Burt addresses the often-misunderstood topic of deductibles, and how they only work for you if you submit a claim.”

The initiative kicked off with a press conference hosted by Craig Fugate, former head of FEMA, where statewide survey results were released. The FAIR Foundation canvassed the state gathering data to gauge Floridians’ overall level of preparedness for hurricane season. The results show that there are simple actions each of us can take to be better prepared each year. The TV special will address these tactics. The show will air in each of the following markets: Orlando; Miami/Ft. Lauderdale; West Palm Beach; Jacksonville; Tallahassee; Pensacola/ Panama City; Gainesville; and Tampa/St. Petersburg.
